Local Area Guide

Tooting is located in the borough of Wandsworth, sandwiched between Balham and Colliers Wood with Streatham on the left and Wimbledon on the right. The boom in popularity enjoyed by Balham recently has worked its way down the Northern line and into Tooting, attracting young families with its proximity to Clapham and Wandsworth and its comparatively cheaper living costs. With the huge open spaces of Tooting Bec Common and over 50 bars and restaurants, there’s a definite reason for the area’s popularity.

Property in Tooting is particularly diverse, with a plethora of mostly Victorian and Edwardian terraces on the market alongside attractive more modern purpose-built maisonettes. The most sought after properties are found on the beautiful Heaver Estate, famed for its original features and contrasting red brick and white detailing.

Parks and Open Spaces

Tooting Bec Common is a large park that stretches for several miles. The common-land has been a meeting place for the people in the area for generations, its large open space is popular among dog walkers, but is also perfect for ball games other activities.

Tooting Bec lido is among the largest in the UK at 90m in length and 30m’s across, the large pool is cold, and a popular destination for local swimmers. It is open all year round but from October to May it is managed by the local swimming club and admits members only.

When weather permits, festival, concerts and other events are held on the common, so in the summer months there is often lots to look forward to.
